FREE DEMO DOWNLOAD MAPRENDER3D PRO

MapRender3D Pro Terrain Rendering Demo software for PC can be downloaded free of charge for evaluation purposes. This version of MapRender3D Pro has limited the DEM datasets that it will accept for demo purposes - these are available below. We highly recommend the Grand Canyon DEM as an excellent example to render.

The DEM data is provided in both WinZip .ZIP format for clients with WinZip installed and who may prefer not downloading an .EXE file or who have firewalls that prevent .EXE files being downloaded; we also provide downloads in WinZip self-extracting format .EXE for those who do not have WinZip software installed.

  MAPRENDER3D SAMPLE INPUT DATA

SAMPLE ASCII DATA

The format of the imported ASCII data should contain Width x Height floating point numbers in a text file. Each value corresponds to a Z (height) value of the height matrix. These numbers are loaded row wise, so the first Width numbers will be the first row of the landscape.

For purposes of comparison and testing, we have prepared a sample ASCII text data file.
ASCII DEM Data in regular Zip format; ASCII DEM Data in WinZip .exe self-extracting format.

SAMPLE RAW DATA

The format of the imported RAW data is like the binary version of the ASCII format except it supports integers only. Generally speaking this is a standard RAW format file that can be opened as an image in Adobe Photoshop. Each value contains a height value. Data is loaded row wise. Data format can be 8 or 16 bits signed or unsigned. Byte order can be Macintosh or PC.

For purposes of comparison and testing, we have prepared a sample RAW format file.
RAW DEM Data in regular Zip format; RAW DEM Data in WinZip .exe self-extracting format.

SAMPLE BUMP MAPS

Bump maps are frequently used to create Fly-Thru animations. The bump maps generally made up of grayscale pixels in the range 0 to 255 based on relative elevation, distributed on a linear scale between black at sea-level and white at the highest peak elevation. For this kind of image, MapRender3D uses the Style "bump-bw.rel" file. We created several sets for videos on the war in Afghanistan and used either 250 meter and 1,000 meter resolution DEM's as input. The downloadable sample image is sized 916 x 886 pixels, and the file size of the sample is 580 KB.

North East Afghanistan in regular JPEG format; You may need to convert the image to another image format in Photoshop to suit your animation software. Initially right-click the image and save the picture as JPEG, then open in an image editor and resave it in your preferred format.
